“Birdcalls in the Floating World”, Hong Kong Arts Center, Hong Kong, 2012

Hong Kong Arts Centre is almost the most frequently exhibited venue for Xiang Jing and Qu Guangci. In a fully developed business society of Hong Kong, this non-for-profit institution sponsored by the Pao Family is one of rare places for a culture and arts. At this occasion, “I Have Seen Happiness” Series by Xiang Jing and “The Grand Dinner Party”, “Twittering” by Qu Guangci are shown together at the Hong Kong Arts Centre, attracting the attention by the very interested Hong Kong public.

Hong Kong Arts Centre has a unique layout with three floors across the exhibition space and all three floors are visible to one and another. Artworks in “I Have Seen Happiness” are placed on the ground floor at entrance and formed an unusually positive relationship with the exhibited space in terms of size and space. In an exhibition like this, one can witness the artist’s rather ingenious temperament outside the seriousness of her major body of works.
