“Naked Beyond Skin”, Eslite Gallery, Taipei, 2007

Thanks to an opportunity to work with Eslite Gallery in Taiepi, the touring exhibition of “Naked Beyond Skin” starts from here.

At “Are A Hundred Playing You? Or Only One - Xiang Jing’s New Work 2006-2007” (Taipei), only two works are placed at site: Are A Hundred Playing You? Or Only One? and To Us… - they are important pieces that concentrate on the topic of “relationship”. To Us… is placed facing the group of figures washing their feet, forming a circular yet self-enclosed ambiance together.

Separately, Xiang Jing also creates an artwork in situ. The Gallery finds three Taipei women of different age groups and professions as models and one by one, Xiang Jing creates three sculpture bust portraits of each woman off the same sculpture base, consecutively - she has to erase the previous bust then sculpt a new one. The process finishes when the sculpture portrait of the last person naturally dries out in natural air. The process was also documented with Polaroid camera and the photos are mounted on the gallery wall, as a proof of existence of this ephemeral work. This piece of work made specifically for Taipei exhibition is named Taipei, Taipei, Taipei
