April 16th, 2021 – Exhibition “Name (姓·名)” on post-pandemic reflections from the perspective of art, opens at Yuelai Art Museum, Yuelai International Expo Centre, Liangjiang District, Chongqing.
A “name” belongs to every single individual, regardless of differences based on gender, race or skin color, while the exhibition “Name” is a (de-)construction of existing norms of appellation. Works from 10 female artists from different age groups and status, present a theatric field for discussions of various personal post-Covid-19 fractures and sentiment for the new time, co-written by the artists themselves and the society. Taking the new problems for contemporary art as subject, and methodology of the artist’s intervention with the society as foundation, the exhibition will bring together the re-definition of “names” by each participating artist.
