Empathy 2018

"Empathy" usually refers to the alikeness of perception between different people; it's also an idiom expressing gratitude. If we expand it, introducing art works outside of you and me, and including the relationship between artists and works and the relationship between the audience and works of art, the connotation of this idiom can be enriched to a large extent.
For such enriching, on the one hand, it is intended to reveal the particularity of the relationship between the artist's body and the material of his works (body sense); On the other hand, it is intended to highlight the special visual and even tactile impressions (color awakening) brought about by the artist's careful treatment on the surface of the work.
At the same time, artists expect to wake up the resonance relationship between works and the audience by emphasizing on these two points. This "resonance" not only refers to visual pleasure in the general sense, but also means a transfer of the audience's perception with both heart and soul to make it "feel indebted as if the favor was received in person".
Eight artists of the younger, the middle and the elder generations participated in the exhibition of "Empathy", namely, Tian Shixin, Sui Jianguo, Zhan Wang, Jiang Jie, Xiang Jing, Wang Wei, Liang Shuo and Geng Xue. The exhibition is divided into two parts: Body Sense and Color Awakening.
