Do we really have the faith in the independent spirit of the visual language of artworks?... 待译
If so, then there really is no need to beat around the bush with mere words. If so, we would fail to reach that secret castle of visual practice even if we were to go straight at it with words. For good castles have moats, and words cannot swim. Words can only stand at a distance, and echo with the walled from afar.
Contributions from a curator are quite different from those of a theorist or critic, because of the ways they engage with artists and artworks. In my view, a curator doesn’t have to compose a concept first to be responded to by artists one after another. Instead, a curator can invite artists together to raise questions, and to interpret and discuss in an agreed context. Yet, art is not like science. Art can ask questions with or without definitive answers, and only encourages us to think creatively, and look at life differently. (Jiang Jiehong)
