“I Have Seen Happiness” (Beijing, Hong Kong, Taipei)

Ever Since Xiang Jing’s first exhibition, her smaller-scale sculptures have always served the purpose of a periodical rest for the artist in between her large-scale art creation. In 2011, when Xiang Jing decides to compile a book for this series, she goes further to construct this complete series and named the series after one of her work “I Have Seen Happiness”. This is the artist’s first attempt to present her smaller-scale sculptures in the form of a “series”. When shown together at exhibition, this collective of sculptures can epitomize various separate creations of small-scale works. Xiang Jing borrows the concept of traditional long Chinese hand-scroll painting and its artistic feature - at each varying step, there is a varying viewpoint and scenario, and starts a narrative and expression full of sparks and wit.

This group of works first shows at Park Hyatt in Yintai Center. The publication with the same title “I Have Seen Happiness” debuts at the same occasion. Artwork creation, presenting an exhibition, and compiling a book, regarded as three separate creative endeavors by Xiang Jing, launch at the same time on the same day. Also, this is also the occasion when Xiang Jing’s first product (with the same name “I Have Seen Happiness”) created for X+Q Art brand debuts. This X+Q Art product later joined the touring exhibition in Taipei and Hong Kong - with the artist’s complete spectrum of creation, she intends to show a more approachable dimension of art.
