Xiang Jing in conversation with ELLE's Editor-in-Chief Xiaoxue: "Through the Ages"

On January 20, 2018, at the time of  Xiang Jing’s retrospective exhibition “Through No One’s Eyes But My Own”, The Long Museum in Shanghai and ELLE China initiated a conversation between artist Xiang Jing, and ELLE Editor-in-Chief Xiaoxue. They compared key landmarks of their lifetime, which triggered conversations about arts, self, love, beauty, growth, freedom, and the ultimate pursuit.

On Xiang Jing’s timeline, she marked down each important period through her works: age 27-33 (1995-1999) first series of work ; age 31-34 (1999-2002) “Mirror Image” series, transforming from children’s perspective to the adult world; age 35-37 (2003-2005) “Keep in Silence” series, aggressive desire to express and action ; age 38-40 (2006-2008) “Naked Beyond Skin” series - a complete description about women, anxiety before turning 40; age 41-43  (2009-2011)“Will Things Ever Get Better?” series - after removing the fulcrum of viewing the world from a personal perspective; age 44-48  (2012-2016) “S” series – back to being a naive and sentimental artist.
