Portraits: The Tenth Anniversary of The Long Museum 2023

On November 8th, “Portraits: The Tenth Anniversary of The Long Museum”, the exhibition curated by Wang Wei, Long Museum Director, opens to the public in Shanghai.
Following the tenth anniversary exhibitions "Being in the World", "Multiple Sights" and "A Leisurely Stroll" from October 2022, Long Museum presents "Portraits" as the fourth major exhibition of modern and contemporary art. "Portraits" presents to the public more than 300 selected portrait works by Chinese and global artists, covering 130 years works by more than 200 artists from the late 19th century to the present day. Taking "portrait" as the theme, the audience can see the differences and evolution of the expression and connotation of portrait art in different times, regions and schools.
In this group exhibition, a few of Xiang Jing’s works in the Long Museum collection are showcased. Over the span from the artist’s early on-canvas works – Surface of the Water, Grounded Angel, My Doll, to The Center of Quietude from the 2007 series, “Naked Beyond Skin”, these works present “portraits” created in various periods for the audience to perceive the author’s artistic development as well as the evolution of representation and expression.
