The First Beijing Art Biennale (2022) 2022

On December 30th, 2022, the First Beijing Art Biennale (2022) kicked off. The Biennale has adopted the "1+2+3" exhibition model that coheres one main venue (National Base for International Cultural Trade), two branch venues (Beijing Friendship Store and M WOODS Museum Hutong, Qianliang Hutong), and three exhibition formats (thematic exhibition, parallel exhibition, satellite exhibition). A total of over 390 artworks from 240 artists coming together from 20 countries and regions are shown. Expanding on the theme, “Symbiosis”, the Biennale not only covers Beijing’s diverse artistic ecology where multi-developments shall take place in a mutual temporality, but also includes the durational progress and prospect that arc over the past, present, and future of this city’s artistic ecology. It attempts to give thoughts to the building of a shared human future in the global post-pandemic, elaborates on a new development paradigm that incorporates more collaborations – of human civilization and natural ecology co-existing in harmony, and of digital technology merging and growing with creative designs.
Xiang Jing’s works are invited to be showcased in two exhibitions in the Biennale – “the Infinite Conversation” curated by Zhu Zhu, and “Swing of the Body in Revolutionary Time” curated by Hu Hao respectively.
