1st Beijing Art and Technology Biennale (BATB), “Synthetic Ecology” 2022

On October 28th, the first Beijing Art and Technology Biennale (BATB), “Synthetic Ecology” officially opens at 798 CUBE Art Museum.
Marking the opening exhibition since the establishment of the art museum, the first BATB is jointly initiated and co-hosted by the 798 Art District and the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA). It brings together 50 participants – artists, scientists, biologists – from all around the world, and engages front-edge technologies from fields of biotechnology, materials science, digital production, and emerging media. The biennale features 3 chapters – Radical Nature, Entangled Life, and Interwoven Evolution – to extend the perspectives of thinking from mankind to all beings, from society to the universe. This exhibition discusses the symbiosis between human and nature by revolving around topics such as climate change, environmental protection, environmental sustainability, and conceptualization of future, then attempts to inspire the public with thinking on the how-to question for human-nature symbiosis and calls for attention on a common human destiny in the future.
