“Chinese Contemporary Art Research” Series Project - Opening Exhibition of Yuan Art Museum 2021

Oct 1st, 2021 – “Chinese Contemporary Art Research” Series Project opens at Yuan Art Museum, Wenzhou. Xiang Jing participates in the exhibition where artworks from a total of 10 artists have been featured with a focus on the generation of avant-guard art from late 1980s to early 1990s.

The exhibition presents the recent new works of the artists to draw along the trace of their ideological development: how can the individuals face the changes of times, and what new ideas can they bring to the present moment? These works not only show an abundant variety of artistic styles, but also a map of explorational roads each artist had taken in their practice. The Series Project shall be seen as a slice of Chinese contemporary art within the contemporary cultural circumstances, whilst the individual artmaking experience of each artist shall be seen as a paragraph in the art history – both now strung by the curator, refracting the entirety of Chinese contemporary art.
